This coming Sunday (September 16) we are delighted to host Dr. Thorsten Moritz from Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Thorsten will open up the Gospel of Mark with us – something you won’t want to miss! Invite someone along for breakfast and worship at the Y at 9:30!
About Dr. Moritz…
Thorsten grew up in Germany, spent a year as an exchange student in Pennsylvania and came to faith after his return to Germany in his hometown’s Lutheran church. He became very involved in youth group leadership, before moving on to study theology. During that time, he got married to Ute.
They moved to England for more church involvement, study and PhD research. After ten years of being a NT professor at a British university, Bethel offered him a position at the Seminary. His main intellectual interests are hermeneutics, ecclesiology and the role of ‘adoption’ as a conceptual framework for doing Christian theology.
He and his wife have two adopted children, Dominic from Colombia and Alani from Minnesota. He is currently writing the Two Horizons commentary on Mark’s Gospels and is working on an advanced hermeneutics textbook. He also acts as a PhD advisor for about ten US-based PhD students through the London School of Theology, England.
